I stumbled upon a recipe for this morning drink, and am obsessed with it. I drink one of these pretty much every morning before running or working out. It’s my modification of the recipe created by Tone It Up personal trainers. The title is a bit silly (I didn’t create it, I just drink it) and it’s a bit hard to take a trainer seriously who is clad in a bikini, but here it is all the same.
- 3-4 slices of fresh pineapple (or you can use pineapple juice)
- 1 tbsp of organic apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp of honey
- juice from half of a lemon
- 2 ice cubes
I crush the ice cubes in the blender, throw in the other ingredients and blend them up. It’s tart and sweet, and perfect for waking up. Apparently the concoction has some healthy benefits — energizing, metabolism-boosting, and cleansing. The original version that I found of this recipe used pineapple juice, but my bodega sells freshly cut pineapple which seems like a better option. Also, their version used lime, but those are pretty scarce around New York these days - plus I’ve heard lemon in the morning is also another good thing for you.
