  • Knit Pattern: Mini Bowtie Necklace

This pattern shows you how to knit a bow, which can be made into a necklace, headband, pin for your lapel or anything!  This is the mini version, which measures 4.5” x 2.25” (11.43cm x 5.72cm).  I also have a pattern for the bigger knit bow.  Below you’ll find the instructions to knit your own…or if you’re not feeling inspired, you can buy a mini bow necklace from the shop.

Also, each Monday I’m going to post a new pattern, tutorial, or DIY project here on the blog.  Until I run out of ideas…or get lazy.

    For the Pattern…

    PDF Pattern

Download the PDF pattern, or look below for the details.

    Materials

    • Size US 8 needles
    • Worsted weight yarn (like Lion Brand Wool-Ease)
    • For the necklace: 16” of chain, 4 jumprings, 1 clasp, needle-nose pliers, wire cutters

    Gauge

    • 18sts and 24 rows = 4”

Yarn and needle size can vary — use smaller or larger needles if you want a different size bow.  Also, gauge is not critical here.

    Mini Knit Bow Pattern

    Seed stitch pattern

    • K1, *P1, K1. Repeat from * across.
    • Repeat for all rows.

Main piece: CO 9 sts, work in seed stitch until piece measures 4.5”.  Bind off in pattern.

Tie: CO 5 sts, work in seed stitch until piece measures 2.5”. Bind off in pattern.

Piecing it together: Wrap the tie around the middle of the main piece, and stitch the 2 ends of the tie together.  Cut jewelry chain into 2 pieces each 8”  long with your wire cutters..  Attach a chain to the top of each side of the bow with your pliers.  Then attach a clasp to the end of one chain, and jumpring to the end of the other.
